Lieutenant Horatio Caine silently stared at the rich man in the interview room. Learning that the Hamiltons were involved in this case had caused a dark pit of guilt to settle in his stomach. It had been fifteen years since he had been forced to come in contact with them, fifteen years since he’d last seen Drake and he’d always hoped that it would never have happened again.

The first case had ended with no justice for the victim and if that hadn’t been hard enough he’d worked a triple homicide right after that left him needing a serious drink. He’d gone out, gotten drunk and his luck had continued to go down the drain when he met Drake in the bar.

Horatio couldn’t really remember what had led to it, or even what exactly had happened but what he did know was that they’d been intimate. They’d fucked hard and fast and in the morning did it again before Horatio came to his senses.

Horatio tried to forget it ever happened, avoided anything to do with the Hamiltons but he knew it couldn’t last. He only hoped that Drake continued to act as if it never happened. Though if Horatio was honest he could feel the tension of their affair brimming just under their interactions.

Taking a breath he opened the door to the interview room and walked in. He could feel Drake’s eyes rake over his body and willed himself not to flinch. He sat across from Drake and glared at him. He wasn’t going to let Drake Hamilton get one over him again, especially not now. He was going to take this guy down for murder, and was going to be very satisfied for it.
